The annual Japanese Film Festival Singapore is here again!
This year, the focus is on Director Okamoto Kihachi. I am not familiar with his films but some of them look interesting with themes relating to Samurai or World War II. Check out the schedule in the following link:

Do you know you can learn English through watching the Japanese Film Festival?
That is because there are English subtitles. Recommended for Intermediate to Advanced learners of English, you will listen to Japanese dialogue but read English subtitles. This not only helps you to improve your English reading skills, but also allows you to connect Japanese and English concepts together. Translation skills will improve too! You will notice the English words that are used to explain Japanese history as you enjoy the movie. For example, "feudal lord" is used for 殿様 during the Samurai period.
Let's give it a try!
For Japanese learners like me, it will be to improve my Japanese listening skills as I read the English subtitles and understand.
